When normalising helps
Supplier catalogues may contain different pack quantities for the same strength and formulation. Converting each option to a per-unit basis can reveal whether the apparently cheaper pack is actually cheaper for the amount required.
Pack identity still comes first. Only normalise prices when the products are legitimately comparable for the intended procurement decision. A lower unit price does not make a different formulation, device or non-equivalent presentation interchangeable.
What this tool does not decide
It does not determine clinical equivalence, reimbursement, pack endorsement, stock availability, supplier minimums or whether splitting packs is permitted or sensible. It is a commercial arithmetic aid after the exact product has been resolved.
